Lydia Kavina: This is how I remember him, just as he appears in this photograph from his 1987 performance in Moscow: vibrant, enigmatic, modest yet mischievous, gentle yet persistent, romantic, and constantly working with his hands. His physical fitness always amazed me. He seemed eternal. He himself liked to joke: “Turn my surname around, and you’ll read ‘Theremin doesn’t die.'” ТЕРМЕН НЕ МРЕТ!
As a tribute to the great inventor, each Sunday at our online workshop we will study one piece from the repertoire of Léon Theremin. See CALENDAR for the dates and registrations.
