About Us

ThereminSchool is the tool for theremin study. We teach the classical theremin playing, which was laid on by Leon Theremin and Clara Rockmore.

 

The theremin is a relatively young instrument, and playing skills as well as learning and teaching methods develop every day. However, we already have several decades of experience in teaching this instrument and can give you a structure of learning that works in most cases.

 

We explain the first steps of learning, which most beginners go through. We show the large scale of skills and techniques of different theremin virtuosi and different teachers. We give praxis tools and links to other learning resources, as well as to teaching people and events. We publish recommendations and address the most frequently asked questions.

 

The author of Thereminschool is Lydia Kavina, one of the key figures in the theremin renaissance of recent decades. Lydia studied with Leon Theremin himself, and she has been teaching the theremin since 1986.
