Learn moving your fingers to change the pitch quicker and more precisely.
Learn different finger movements from closed hand (position 1) to fingers stretched towards the pitch antennae (position 8). You may adjust your tuning so that you can reach one octave within opening the hand without moving the arm. The number of finger position from 1 to 8 is related to Carolina Eyck’s “Eight finger method”, and are similar to names of intervals within the octave. However, the shape of your hand for different finger positions and use of them for melodies many vary by each person, as well as by use of different instruments or different music interpretation. Use opening the hand for big intervals of the melody or higher register, and more closed positions for smaller intonations, lower register, as well as for more confident playing. Keep your wrist rather straight, avoid holding your wrist bend for too long. Use more legato playing to force your fingers work.
